Join Australia’s foremost demographers, planners and urban researchers to discuss the way forward. Hear from leading commentators, engage in debate, ask questions, and find out the latest research. 

The Australian Population Association holds its' national conference every two years.

The 2016 APA Conference - People. Cities. Futures - was held in Sydney in November 2016. Participants were able to:

  1. Hear prominent speakers provide commentary on key issues including urban design, population planning, Australia's migration policy, rural and regional development, affordable housing and homelessness.
  2. Listen to and engage with cutting-edge researchers working to unpick the intricacies of population dynamics and city functioning  
  3. Debate topics as diverse as optimum city size, designing for people, homes for the future and encouraging regional development 
  4. Build new connections with and between leading researchers and learn how their work can inspire, inform and complement a better future
