Aims and Origins
The Australian Population Association was formed in 1980 and currently has over 230 individual members and a corporate membership of more than 90.
The Association is governed by a National Council which plans national activities and co-ordinates Regional Groups. Members are automatically considered to be part of the Regional Group in their State or Territory. The activities of the Association are governed by a Constitution.
The main aims of the Association are:
- to encourage the exchange of information between individuals and organisations in population and related fields,
- to provide a forum for the discussion of population issues, and
- to promote population research and education particularly in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
