22nd Conference of the Australian Population Association
Creating Demographic Resilience
18–20 November 2026, Australian National University, Kambri/Canberra
The Committee of the 22nd Australian Population Association Conference invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students to join us in Canberra to explore the theme “Creating Demographic Resilience.” As demographic change accelerates across Australia and the wider Asia–Pacific region, this conference provides a leading forum to share research, analyse emerging trends, and discuss new strategies for strengthening population wellbeing, equity, and sustainability.
Hosted at the Australian National University’s Kambri Precinct, the 2026 conference will bring together a vibrant community of demographers and allied experts committed to advancing population studies and shaping informed public policy.

Abstract submissions open 1 May 2026
All abstracts must be submitted online via the electronic submission form (available May 2026).
We welcome submissions across a broad spectrum of topics in Australian and international population studies, including (but not limited to):
- Population health and ageing
- Fertility, families, and households
- Migration, mobility, and settlement
- First Nations demography
- Urbanisation and regional futures
- Population projections and modelling
- Data innovations, big data, and demographic methods
- Climate change, resilience, and population dynamics
- Population policy and planning
- Demography of the Asia–Pacific region
